The Golf slice can be pretty frustrating. It tends to persist mostly with folks just learning how to play the game but can also occasionally be a problem with more experienced golfers. In fact even professionals will be seen to slice the ball when they were supposed to be taking critical tournament-winning shots.
A slice occurs when the ball veers way right or way left of the intended target.
There are various things that cause it. One is trying to hit the ball as hard as possible with all the strength that you can master. The other is a poor finish where your swing does not follow through properly and veers towards the end in a certain direction. Even a grip of the golf club that is too weak can easily cause the slice.
The correct way to accomplish the finish in the golf swing is to follow through high and you should end up with your right knee facing the exact direction where you intended the ball to go. Your right foot will be up so that your spikes are visible.
One of the deliberate steps that you can take to cure the slice is to keep the face of the golf club squared through the entire period of the swing until it makes contact with the ball. For this to happen you will need to take very good care of all the basics related to the golf swing. This includes the correct grip technique, proper body set up and good rhythm in their golf swing body movement.
Some golfers make their golf slice more common and recurring than it should ever be. It all happens in the mind and after a couple of slices their mind starts to picture one every time they com on to a golf course.
It is not a good idea to allow any form of negative thoughts to enter the mind of a golfer. Just remember that most of the golf is played up there on the mind and very little on the course as the game unfolds and is won or lost long before the first shot has been taken.
It does no harm spending a little of your time watching the professionals to see exactly what they do to get themselves out of certain tight situations. You can also take careful note of the proper swing technique so that you avoid the most common problems people have
