Virtually anybody can improve their golf swing tremendously by leaning on the habits of the professionals. There is a huge difference between what the professionals do and how amateurs more often than not fumble their way around a course. One of these clear differences is in something called the pre-shot routine.
What the pre-shot routine does for a golfer is give them consistency in what they are doing as well as going a long in helping them calm their nerves. So, what exactly is a pre-shot routine? A pre-shot routine is the deliberate set of actions of preparation that a golfer takes moments before the golf swing. The idea is to make them a habit and to be able to repeat them again and again in exactly the same sequence. The whole idea is to help the mind to deliver consistency on the golf course during the swing. Incidentally consistency is something that even the best players in the world have a huge problem delivering. Yet the more consistent you are the better your game will be and the more difficult it will be for anybody to beat you.
Any golfer who has a pre-shot routine that they always repeat before the drive the ball will find that their golf swing is much improved from the time that they did not have one.
This is really what sets the professionals apart from the amateurs. Just watch most of them play and you will notice that before their first shot they will take several practice swings before stepping up to the golf ball. On the next shot they will not take any practice swings. Still on the third shot, depending on how good the last one was, they might take a few practice shots. In sharp contrast a professional will repeat their pre-shot routine before each golf swing. And that routine will exactly be the same from the beginning to the end.
This usually has a tremendous effect on the mind of the golfer and works to help improve the golf swing dramatically. What the repetitive pre-shot routine will do is calm the nerves of the golfer and put their mind to rest, effectively distracting them from the pressure f the golf swing that they are just about to execute. After all they will have repeated the pre-shot routine numerous times before. This eliminates all negative thoughts and the fear of making a terrible drive.
Do everything in your power to develop a golf pre-shot routine immediately because it will improve every golf swing irrespective of the ability or level of the game that you as a golfer has accomplished up to this point.
